Hi! Currently in Costa Rica so found your website and realised that the link to Costa Rica doesn’t work at the minute.

I’m a fellow Brit interested to see that you were here about a year ago and so faced the same issue I did about rainy season in the Andes. I’m trying to work it out now and would love it if you could contact me so we can be in touch!

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!

    Hello guys !

We are a french couple 30 years old, travelling for a long time now in Asia (backpacking and a lot of trekking). We are now planning our next trip : a bicycle touring to cross Central America from Mexico to Bogota.

Reading through your inspiring blog I would like to have your personal feeling on one point.

We are perfect beginners at bicycling but my main concern is about the safety in this area. The more I read on blogs and Internet the more I feel afraid. I knew that Central America is not the easiest part to travel but not that much !

We want to feel free and go for camping at night, meet the locals as we use to do, and not to be stressed every minutes with watching our stuff… but it’s seems harder in that part of the world. I don’t want to travel and live every day in the fear to be attacked or robed or more !

Could you give me you personal feeling. Did you feel unsafe riding through those countries ? Did you had any bad experience. How did you manage to camp ? Is it possible everywhere ?

It would be very helpful for me to get a small answer to my fears. ????

Thank you and enjoy your time !
